STRUCTURAL FOAM MOLDING Hettinga Process molding In 1983 one client came to us asking that he had brought a new process and technology for molding plastics. The machine had six work stations arranged in a carousal fashion and used a revolutionary low pressure molding process named afetr the inventor Hettinga. The machine was robust and could handle small and large housings and flat moulds and that started our sojourn with Engineering structural foam where we worked with around 20 or clients for variety of engineering and consumer products. Gas assited molding and twin wall molding technologies Simulataneously another company brought a new machine where gas was injcted at the mould entry point to produce gas assisted injection molded structural foam which had wonderful furniture applications and wood replacement applications in the industry. A versatile economical process to obtain high rigidity in large structural parts. Process has similarities to conventional injection moulding. An inert gas is dispersed through the melt by directly inducing it or by preblending the resin with chemical blowing agents.
