The issue of vegetative propagation is covered here to enlighten the use of top cut and division of clumps of orchids for creating more plants. Most of the Arachnis, Mokaras, Arandas and the terete, semi terete and starp leaved plants cna lend themselves for this work when only a few clones are needed from the mother plant.

Excised parts are treated with contact fungicide and rooting harmones and planted in seperate pots for growing further.

Usually the mother plant initiates a auxilliary growth that keeps the apical dominance alive.
